Meet me in the hallway, bite your lip when I say.

Why is it that the outfits I like most never photograph well? There is a lot of detail on the top and skirt but I couldn't capture them very well. I also took these photos in a new location and had a LOT of people staring at me so I kind of rushed it. Anyway, I didn't want to let summer pass without wearing my favourite floral skirt. It has buttons and a pleated bow on the back, but I wear it forwards because I worry about creasing the bow when I sit down.

Recently I've had LASIK laser eye surgery. Now I can see clearly without lenses! Still going through the healing process and that means no make up for a couple of weeks. How will I survive? It also hurts a bit when I stare at a computer screen too long so comments may be delayed (but how is that any different to usual?).

Haven't worn these cream shoes for a while, think I'll donate them. I used to wear them everyday for uni.

I've been inclined to believe it never would.

For an engagement party, I was originally going to wear a knit striped dress, which was quite casual. Then I heard my friend was wearing an LBD so I quickly whipped this lace dress on instead. It was an interesting, sometimes awkward, night of G&Ts.

My mum and brother were with me when I bought the above dress. They asked me why I was buying a dress that looks like all my other dresses. I can't help it, I'm a sucker for lace and neutrals. I liked the cuffed sleeves on this. Definitely a warm weather dress, the arms are very breezy.

I really liked my hair and make up from this night but the pictures of it didn't turn out too well. Maybe it only looked good in my imagination.

It seems like peace is the only thing I'll never know.

Two Saturdays ago I attended a girl's 21st birthday meal. We had a lovely tapas meal and some tasty cocktails (apple Mojito!). After that I raced to the train station so I could attend a 27th birthday celebration in the same night. So much traveling for my poor feet. I used to wear these white heels all the time but now they pinch at the front. My feet have grown? How sad.

It looks like I'm doing the socks + shoes trend thing, but really it's only because I cannot wear shoes without socks. At first I put the socks at a cute ankle length but I decided my legs were too stumpy for that and pulled them up so they were knee-high. Do you prefer up or down?

My blogspot pet hate: when it asks you for a word verification after you've clicked 'post comment'. Why can't it just be on the same page?

This post has been tagged "work" but it's a semi-lie. I wore it all for work apart from the hat. I'd worn my Hush Puppies to work, but an ASOS package was waiting for me when I arrived. I was so excited to receive my new shoes I wore them straight away. My work wardrobe is a bit more 'classic' than my regular wardrobe but I think it's still 'my style' as I usually incorporate my favourite elements of nautical, bows and ruffles.

Really, I just wanted to show you my new shoes! I'm glad I took the plunge and bought them.

Those ephemeral fireworks I watched with you.

Long cardigan - H&M
Bow brooch - Topshop
Tights - Topshop
Shoes - River Island
Hat - fancy dress shop
Knuckle ring - Accessorize

This is an outfit I wore last week to run some errands. It's the return of my cardigan-as-a-dress, whoo. The only problem is the deep V-neck so I had to pin the top together with a brooch. I would have cinched the cardigan with a belt as well, but it looked too busy with the bow, buttons and pockets. A girl in Vivienne Westwood complimented my boater, but I don't know if she was just trying to get me to buy something.

I didn't like these heart tights much before (I would have preferred a more scattered heart pattern) but they actually make my legs look so long and slender! I forgive them. Also displaying my newest jewellery acquisition. It's a two-finger knuckle ring with "love" across the front. I originally wore it 'upright' as in the bottom photo, but my brother said I should wear it 'upside down' so when I do DAPS, it would be the right way around. What do you think?

Do you ever go into a store intending to return something you've bought and end up buying something else (more expensive) instead?

Sunday, 15 August 2010

You've been around all night and that's a little long.

Dress - Miss Selfridge
Zip up jacket - brother's (H&M?)
Cable knit tights - Topshop

It looks like I put a bowl on my head and then dyed my hair orange. I really need to re-colour my hair, it looks awful! So I think this is the most colourful outfit I've ever posted? The dress is one of the few things I kept after a big Miss Selfridge shipment. The duck egg blue, the cute spots, the pleated hem and the coral/white Peter Pan collar sucked me in. I guess it helped it was the only item I'd actually seen in real life before I made my order.

Who would've thought that I would wear cable knit tights in August? I popped the yellow shoes on because they were in a pile by the door that I had planned to donate but they seem to be finding their way into quite a few of my outfits. Perhaps it is not yet time to let them go.

I'm sad that Miss Selfridge have put their pirces up a bit.

I'm now becoming my own self-fulfilled prophecy.

This is an outfit from a few weeks ago. It was during the time I suddenly got into Naruto Shippuden (nerd post alert!). I dug out my Konoha protector and wore it out like a total n00b. It kept my neck warm. I guess this outfit was slightly ninja influenced. The treggings tucked into my shoes is something I do anyway but it made me feel more like a shinobi that day. Hmmm, it's been so long since I did an outfit post that I don't know what to say!

PS I'm totally disappointed with Sasuke. Loving Itachi though. And Inoue Kazuhiko has the best voice ever.

Be my rock 'n' roll queen.

Hallo meine Lieben! ♥ Many apologies for being away a month longer than I anticipated. I'm afraid it was mostly due to laziness! My new job involves a lot more work that I thought it would so I'm going to slowly ease myself back into the blogging world. During my absence I went on a cruise around the western Mediterranean and here are some pictures from that holiday. I visited; Palma, Monaco, Villefranche, Pisa, near Rome, Corisca and Palamos.

Thank you to all my new followers! I'm going to try my best to reply to all the comments I received during my hiatus.

On Friday night, my family had planned to eat out, but the restaurant we chose was packed and parking was atrocious, so we filled our bellies with curries elsewhere. My curry was a bit bland, but I loved tasting everyone else's dish, chomping on the poppadoms and slurping my mango lassi.

The shirt I wore was the one my brother used to wear at school. It's quite big! I love my rolled up my grey jeans (that's been done in Japanese magazines for so long) but I've thought about throwing them out since the colour is so passe and they are a bit baggy now.

I only decided afterwards to wear a necklace. It's one of my favourites. Here's to a lovely weekend. Hope you all had a good one!

On Sunday I rose early from my bed and went to a car boot sale with my friend. Didn't buy much, so afterwards we went to a shopping centre. I spent far too much! I got a pair of treggings, a jacket, a dress, some shoes and a headband. I tried so many pairs of trousers on my arms were so tired by the end of the day.

The lighting on this camera is so bad! My dress has a lace pattern and is a blush pink colour whilst my tights are white with little hearts all over. The denim jacket I've had for 5+ years but I have probably only worn it three times. Terrible!

It's been sunny recently, but you could hardly tell from these photos. Hope the nice weather continues! It seems to be drawing all the spiders out though...

Love is like a battlefield, a battlefield!

Went out for dinner last night. The initial plan was tapas, but the place was full (you can't book beforehand) so we went to a posh-ish type restaurant with the biggest lampshades in the world. Didn't really enjoy my rarebreed pork but I did love the dessert selection! Sadly, these heels gave me blisters. Should wear socks/tights next time. Also, on the way back from the train station, I was hassled by some jerks, so an old man kept me company and walked me down the street. We discussed the disrepectful youth of today.

I hate those awkward moments at the end of a date when you're saying goodbye. To kiss or not to kiss?!

Choosing sunglasses for your face shape.

I was lucky that the sun was shining. Look at the blue sky!

Lately, I have had such an urge to buy a new pair of sunglasses, but I think I have a face that doesn't suit anything! I just look like a bug with giant eyes. If you're having as much trouble as me, here's a few pointers:

Oval-shaped face: the length of your head is longer than the width and everything is in proportion. You're lucky, because pretty much anything suits you! Try something oversized.

Round-shaped face: width and length are pretty much the same. Buy frames that are angular and narrow to help lengthen your face. Frames with browbars are meant to pull your face up too. Try aviators.

Square-shaped face: similar to round faces, but your jaw and cheekbones are more strongly defined. Choose sunglasses with rounded edges and curves to soften the lines. Try warriors.

Oblong-shaped face: similar to oval, but with a squarer jawline. Choose larger frames which will help shorten the face. Oversized sunglasses look great on you. Choose something with curves. Try visors.

Heart-shaped face: small (pointy?) chin, wide forehead and high cheekbones. They are hard to find, but see if you can get some frames that aren't too wide on the bottom. Try predators.

Diamond-shaped face: small forehead, high cheekbones and small chin. Oval frames will soften the contours of your face. Narrower frames also work to balance out your cheekbones. Try new wayfarers.

Bottom line = choose a pair that balances out your face and keeps everything in proportion. And, no, I am not affiliated with Ray-Ban or the Sunglasses Shop. I just love Ray-Ban!

On Thursday night after work, I went to an outdoor cinema. I couldn't be bothered putting on a new outfit, so I just changed out of my work shoes and threw on a jacket. I'm glad I did because it got rather chilly at night! Next time I go, I will bring a blanket and maybe an extra layer or two to throw on.

The film I saw was The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. It was quite good, even though you knew it would be doomed from the start :(

Today my dad and I went to eat dim sum with one of his old uni colleagues and his family. They were half an hour late... Afterwards we went to the hardware store. I looked a bit out of place. Today was much warmer than I anticipated. I look like some wannabe festival goer. I am loving my new watch though! Some family friends bought me one as a graduation present but I didn't like it so I exchanged it. I am also loving this hat. I was considering returning it but think I'll keep it now.

For these photos I used my mum's new Panasonic compact camera. I really like it! I had way too much fun posing for these. I did, however, manage to drop the *new* camera on the floor (I guess the tripod wasn't stable) and now it has some deep scratches. It's only two days old. Oops.

Need to shower and then do some homework. Hope everyone has had a good weekend!

I'm gonna go ape s**t on you!

Zip up jacket - Adidas
Skirt - Urban Outfitters
Tights - Marks and Spencers

Gosh, I feel like I haven't stopped moving all weekend! 'GO APE' was quite fun but it's a bit tiring and my hands are full of blisters and my body full of insect bites and splinters (making sure you land forwards on the zipwire is a bit tough). The above outfit is what I changed into afterwards, since my jeans and poloneck were covered in woodchip debris.

I already can't wait until next weekend! Can't wait to have a nice long lie in. You'll have to pay me to leave the house. Hope everyone had a good weekend :)

It's about time for my arrival. WUT.

Shirt - Gap
Shorts - Gap
Socks - Primark
Hat - Topman
Shoes - Topshop

Admittedly, I just bummed around this weekend so this isn't really what I wore. It is, however, one of my favourite outfits. I love pairing these shorts with a nice white blouse or polo in summer. Yes, the shorts are rather short but they elongate my legs? Also, I never knew the pinstripes on them were red, green, blue and yellow until I took the below close-up photo.

The hat is a new purchase from Friday. I probably should have bought this before my two holidays, but I was only really looking for a capeline type hat back then. Not sure if I should keep it. The crown is a bit high and I'd prefer a wider brim to shield me from the sun. Yesterday I had milk + Baileys and a packet of salt & vinegar whilst catching up with "Home and Away". Sometimes it's nice just to lounge around the house.

My first week at work has been quite good. The staff are all nice and my tutor is so cool and laidback (and cute!).

On Saturday night I went to my friend's house for dinner. She made gammon steak with roast potatoes and sweetcorn, yum. Afterwards we played mah jong. On Sunday I went out for dim sum and wore pretty much the same outfit. Sunday was my last ever day being a student. Today was my first day at work in the big wide world. It was okay. My work clothes are so ugly. I took some photos, but they are far too unstylish to post online.

I actually think the cut of this dress is highly unflattering but I adore the fabric! It makes me feel like an extra in Pride and Prejudice (Colin Firth version).

I swapped him for an iPod.

The shirt belongs to my brother. He wore it to my graduation and for some reason I was compelled to wear it on Friday when I went to the bank, McDonalds and for a haircut. The shirt actually fit pretty well! My original 'bag' for the day was an envelope from a congratulations card but swapped it later in the day.

Also, I watched Bruno. It was okay. Borat was way way funnier.

I so affirm.

This is the dress I wore underneath my graduation gown on Thursday. I love it! I first saw it in January when I was walking through Debenhams to use their toilet. Sadly, I didn't have any money so I waited until April when my friend bought it for me as a birthday present. I'm just a sucker for pretty lace things. After the ceremony, my family and I went to the supermarket. We looked a bit out of place in our suits and pretty dresses.

Possibly deep down, I wanted this dress because I was influenced by Blair's eyelet lace dress for the Bass brunch in season 1. Saying that, I did originally want the black version of this but white looked so much prettier.
